Project overview
Following the successful implementation of one of the UK's first class-approved RBI integrity management strategies, Imrandd was tasked with reappraisal of a further FPSO integrity strategy for the same operator.
This activity was part of the larger integrity management scope that Imrandd was responsible for, raising the standard of integrity management and bringing consistency between assets. The asset was nearing twenty years on station, so a robust approach was required that considered late life operation and all data gathered during years in the field.
The challenge
The FPSO was already a mature asset, with a wealth of inspection history behind her. Because of this the operator had concerns that it did not have a full picture of its risks, and that they were in danger of missing important details.
Imrandd took this information and history into account and built a new risk profile that aligned with the operator's approach to integrity management. This included re-establishing appropriate metrics that allowed integrity risks to be accurately compared against other operational risks managed by the operator.
The solution
Imrandd teams approach every RBI build on the understanding that the strategy is not solely reliant on inspection as a means of monitoring risks. In this scope, we assessed the wider picture on the asset, incorporating an appropriate range of other data sources to ensure the strategy was balanced and robust.
Through an in-depth, holistic approach to the identification of risks, our consultants built an actionable, defensible strategy to manage and monitor these risks. A long-term plan for the integrity of the asset was put in place, ready for immediate implementation, giving the operator the tools to satisfy all regulatory requirements and operate efficiently and effectively.
Benefits
- Rationalised strategy based on robust understanding of asset condition
- Meeting standards in line with the class-approved RBI strategy in place on the operator's other North Sea assets
- Efficient inspection strategy with optimised frequencies appropriate to each system
Conclusion
As a result of the ongoing partnership between the operator and Imrandd, there has been an overall increase in the standard and efficiency of asset integrity management, including planning and enactment of inspection work.
As part of the ongoing integrity management of this asset, Imrandd works with the client's in-house teams to provide rolling updates to the strategy, ensuring that it is optimised to manage risks using all available data effectively.
